If there's one thing I've learned throughout my natural hair journey, it's that finding the right combination of products can sometimes feel like solving a puzzle!

One product may deliver beautiful definition but leave your strands feeling dry. Another may give you wonderful moisture but very little hold.

And then, every once in a while, you discover a combination that makes you say, "Now THIS is what I've been looking for!"

That was my experience when I first tried Eden BodyWorks Coconut Shea Curl Defining Crème.

Let's revisit this product, how I used it, and why it made such an impression on my 3C/4A natural curls.

How I Discovered Eden BodyWorks

My introduction to Eden BodyWorks began during a shopping trip to Walmart with my husband.

While we were checking out, I noticed another natural-haired woman purchasing several products from the Eden BodyWorks line.

Naturally, I had to ask how she liked them!

Ladies, sometimes our best product recommendations come from conversations with other women who understand the natural hair journey.

She had wonderful things to say about the line, and her enthusiasm encouraged me to give it a try.

I initially purchased Eden BodyWorks Peppermint Oil and paired it with Kinky-Curly Knot Today Leave-In Conditioner.

I was pleased with the results.

During a later shopping trip, I picked up the Coconut Shea Leave-In Conditioner and then decided to try the Coconut Shea Curl Defining Crème.

And that's when the real experimenting began!

What Is Eden BodyWorks Coconut Shea Curl Defining Crème?

Eden BodyWorks Coconut Shea Curl Defining Crème is a styling cream designed to help shape and define curls while providing softness and manageability.

The formulation I reviewed in 2014 contained ingredients including aloe vera, fatty alcohols, shea butter, and a shea-derived emulsifier.

These ingredients can contribute to a creamy consistency, slip, conditioning, and softness.

One thing worth remembering is that product formulas can change over time. If you're purchasing this product today, always check the current ingredient label.

And here's something important, ladies: A moisturizing cream is not necessarily the same as a strong-hold styling gel.

Depending on your hair texture, application method, and the products you layer underneath, your results may be very different from someone else's.

That's why I always encourage my readers to pay attention to what their own strands are telling them.

My Original Wash-and-Go Routine

When I tested the Curl Defining Crème, I followed a simple routine.

Step 1: Cleansing and conditioning

I began by co-washing with TRESemmé Naturals, a product I used during that period of my natural hair journey.

Step 2: Applying leave-in conditioner

After rinsing, I applied Eden BodyWorks Coconut Shea Leave-In Conditioner.

Step 3: Adding oil

Next, I used Eden BodyWorks Peppermint Oil as part of my styling combination.

Step 4: Applying the Curl Defining Crème

I divided my hair into four sections and applied the Curl Defining Crème throughout, carefully working it into my curls using a curl-clumping technique inspired by the Tightly Curly method.

Step 5: Letting my curls dry

I allowed my hair to dry and watched my natural curl pattern take shape.

And ladies, I was absolutely delighted with the results!

The Results: Curl Definition That Made Me Smile

The curl formation was beautiful!

My hair felt soft, looked shiny, and had the bounce I loved.

What impressed me most was the definition I achieved without sacrificing the natural movement of my curls.

You know that feeling when your curls turn out so well that you keep checking them in the mirror?

Yes, ladies! That was me!

Of course, I cannot say that the Curl Defining Crème alone was responsible for every result. I was using several products together, and the combination worked especially well for my hair at that time.

Nevertheless, the experience made me appreciate how much a good styling routine can influence the finished look.

What Happened on Second-Day Hair?

Now, you know I couldn't stop at day one!

That evening, I refreshed my hair with a small amount of leave-in conditioner, gathered it loosely into a pineapple, and covered it before going to sleep.

The following morning, I released my hair and gently shook out my curls.

Some sections were still slightly damp, so I used a little cool water where needed and allowed everything to finish drying.

And guess what?

My hair was still soft, bouncy, shiny, and manageable!

That second-day result made the styling combination even more appealing to me.

One lesson I've learned over the years is that refreshing doesn't always require starting your wash-and-go from scratch.

Sometimes a little water, gentle reshaping, and patience are all you need.

For nighttime protection, I now also encourage using a satin bonnet, scarf, or pillowcase to reduce friction.

What I Loved About This Product

Looking back at my original review, several things stood out.

• Curl definition: My curls appeared well-formed and beautifully defined.

• Softness: My hair remained pleasant to the touch.

• Shine: The finished style had a lovely, healthy-looking sheen.

• Manageability: I found my hair easy to refresh the following morning.

• Styling versatility: It worked well as part of my leave-in, oil, and styling-cream routine.

For my fine, naturally curly strands, finding a balance between moisture, definition, and movement has always been important.

And this was one of those combinations that worked beautifully for me.

A Few Things I Would Consider Today

Years of caring for natural hair have taught me that even a product I love deserves a thoughtful second look.

First, layering several products can sometimes lead to buildup or weigh down fine strands. I would begin with smaller amounts and adjust as needed.

Second, ingredients matter, but your hair's response matters too. A rich cream may be wonderful for one person and too heavy for another.

Third, I would always check the product's current formulation rather than assuming that the ingredients or directions remain unchanged from 2014.

Finally, essential oils and fragranced products can irritate sensitive scalps. If a product causes itching, burning, or redness, discontinue use.

A little experimentation can be enjoyable, but healthy hair care should never require ignoring discomfort.

Would I Purchase It Again?

Based on my original 2014 experience, absolutely!

I enjoyed the softness, definition, and beautiful second-day results.

Would I automatically expect the exact same results from a bottle purchased today?

Not necessarily.

My hair, routine, and preferences have evolved, and the product's formulation may have changed.

But I would certainly remember this as one of the products that helped me discover what worked for my natural curls.

And that is part of the beauty of keeping this blog going after all these years.

We get to look back, celebrate what we've learned, and make better-informed choices moving forward.

My Final Thoughts

Ladies, your natural hair journey is not about finding one magical product that works for everyone.

It's about discovering the combinations, techniques, and routines that make your hair feel its best.

Sometimes it means returning to an old favorite.

And sometimes it means realizing that simpler really is better!
