Crowning Glory Coils & Kinks: My Ayurvedic Hair Oil Journey
By Lady Carolyn M. Summerset
Hello, my beautiful naturalistas!
Today, I'm sharing something particularly special to me. It's not another product I discovered while browsing the beauty supply store or watching YouTube reviews.
This time, I'm talking about something I created myself!
Crowning Glory Coils & Kinks Ayurvedic Hair Oil!
Over the years, my natural hair journey has taught me the importance of understanding ingredients, recognizing what my hair needs, and developing a routine that encourages healthier-looking, manageable hair.
And sometimes, ladies, the product you're searching for is the one you decide to create yourself!
How My Ayurvedic Hair Oil Began
My interest in Ayurvedic-inspired hair care grew from exploring traditional herbs, natural oils, and the beauty of botanical ingredients.
I wanted a versatile oil blend that could complement a natural hair-care routine while helping soften, lubricate, and add shine to the strands.
I also wanted something that could be used on both natural and chemically processed hair, depending on individual needs.
After researching different oils and herbs, I began experimenting with my own botanical infusions.
And from that process, Crowning Glory Coils & Kinks Ayurvedic Hair Oil was born!
What's Inside My Botanical Blend?
One of the things I love about making my own hair oil is having the opportunity to select the ingredients.
My original formula brings together botanical oils such as olive, grapeseed, coconut, jojoba, neem, and avocado.
I also incorporate traditional Ayurvedic-inspired herbs and botanicals, including:
Amla: Traditionally used in Ayurvedic hair preparations.
Brahmi: A botanical with a long history in traditional hair and scalp care.
Hibiscus: Frequently incorporated into herbal hair treatments.
Fenugreek: A seed used in traditional hair-care recipes.
Curry leaves: Often included in botanical oil preparations.
Other botanicals have also been part of my original infusion process.
Each ingredient was selected as part of my interest in traditional botanical hair care, rather than as a promise that an oil alone can reverse thinning or regrow lost hair.
The Infusion Process: Patience Is Part of the Journey
Now, ladies, this isn't something I simply pour into a bottle and call finished!
My original process involved combining the oils and herbs and allowing them to infuse in sunlight over approximately six to eight weeks.
Yes, weeks!
The intention was to allow the botanical ingredients time to infuse into the oil.
I have always appreciated the patience involved in creating something by hand.
Of course, careful preparation, clean equipment, appropriate storage, and ingredient quality are important when making botanical products, especially those intended for other people.
How I Use My Ayurvedic Hair Oil
Here's the part that makes this product so personal to me.
I still use my Crowning Glory Hair Oil daily!
It has remained part of my own hair-care routine long after I originally introduced it to customers.
Depending on your hair's needs, botanical hair oils can be incorporated into several routines.
For scalp care: A small amount can be gently massaged into the scalp if the formula agrees with your skin.
For added shine: A few drops can be smoothed over hair to reduce a dull appearance.
For pre-shampoo treatments: An appropriate amount can be applied before cleansing to help lubricate the hair.
For styling: A light application to conditioned hair can add softness and reduce friction.
Remember, oil does not replace water-based moisture or conditioning. I consider it one part of a complete hair-care routine.
And because my strands are fine, I know firsthand that using too much oil can weigh hair down. A little may go a long way!
From Etsy to Word of Mouth
Some of you may not know that I previously offered my Crowning Glory Coils & Kinks Ayurvedic Hair Oil through Etsy.
However, after encountering difficulties selling through the platform, I decided to move away from that approach.
These days, I primarily sell my oil through word of mouth.
There is something special about sharing a handcrafted product with people who are interested in your work and appreciate the time you've invested in creating it.
Although I no longer rely on Etsy, my passion for this botanical blend has remained.
My Philosophy: Learn Your Hair, Love Your Hair
If there's one thing I want every naturalista to understand, it's this:
Your hair doesn't have to look like anyone else's to be beautiful.
Some of us have fine strands. Others have thick strands. Some have loose curls, while others have tightly coiled or kinky textures.
Our needs will not always be the same.
An oil that works beautifully for one woman may feel too heavy for another. And while oils can improve the feel and appearance of hair, unexplained hair loss or thinning deserves proper evaluation rather than reliance on cosmetic products alone.
My goal with Crowning Glory has always been to encourage women to take an active interest in caring for their hair.
A Little Love from My Hands to Yours
When I look at those original bottles of Crowning Glory Coils & Kinks Ayurvedic Hair Oil, I see more than a hair-care product.
I see an idea that became something tangible.
I see the research, the preparation, the patience, and the excitement of creating something with my own hands.
And I see another chapter in my journey as a natural hair enthusiast and small-business owner.
I'm grateful that after all these years, I still enjoy using the oil I created!

Still Handcrafted with Care
Years after creating my original Ayurvedic Hair Oil, I continue to personally prepare each batch using my traditional six-to-eight-week herbal infusion process.
I haven't abandoned the formula that started my journey. In fact, this botanical oil remains part of my daily hair-care routine!
Although I previously sold my oil through Etsy, today I primarily share it through word of mouth.
For me, Crowning Glory Coils & Kinks is more than a product. It's a labor of love, created with patience, care, and an appreciation for botanical hair care.
Until next time, ladies, remember:
Your crown is uniquely yours. Nourish it, protect it, and wear it with confidence!
With love and beautiful curls,
Lady Carolyn M. Summerset
